SHOPPING FOR FABRICS IN LONDON. During this course which will appeal to anyone embarking on making their own clothes, Rowena will take you to different areas of London known for their fabric and haberdashery stores. With a group of no more than five, she will introduce you to her favourite suppliers, give you time to explore and offer you specialist advise should you wish to buy. You will be taught how to keep records of fabrics to go back to; calculate how much fabric you need; how to test for shrinkage and how to identify pure silks from synthetic imitations.

Each lesson will start at 10.00am over morning coffee, close to the shops to be visited that day, with the first introductory meeting taking place at Foyles Cafe in the old Saint Martins building on Charring Cross Road, where designers such as John Galliano and Alexander MacQueen once studied.

Especially appealing to anyone wanting to embark on making their own clothes, this course will also give visitors to London a chance to explore the city with a group of like-minded people.

Dates: Three consecutive Wednesdays; Wednesday 26th April, Wednesday 3rd May and Wednesday 10th May 2017.
